    KMart wants to be traded!!!!

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Martin, who has one year remaining on his Nets contract, reportedly was seeking a six-year extension worth approximately $87 million, but Aldridge reports the Nets have offered him roughly $66 million.

I told you that NJ would sign him in the $65-$70 million area(for those who doubted he would get that kind of money)......its just that Martin wants more.

    Interesting.....

Wow. I didnt see this move coming from Martin so quickly. I think it is quite sad that he would leave a bright future in New Jersey because he didnt get a huge contract that he didnt deserve. If he deserved it then that would be another story however he did not deserve a $87 million dollar contract. Vintage you were right on about the contract the Nets would offer. I wonder what teams would actually give Martin the money he wants. Truly a shocking turn of events in New Jersey.

Utah could potentially........as well as Atlanta.

IMO, although I doubt Atlanta would offer him anything near that, or Utah for the matter, but Martin and Abdur Rahim would be a nice F tandem. The reason being, Martin can play both F spots defensively. That would allow Abdur Rahim to take the lesser skilled offensive player, since his defense is mediocre at best.

No team will pay him that though. The only teams that figure to have that cap room are: Memphis(doesn't need another PF), San Antonio(will use it to resign Ginobili, and save money for Parker), Atlanta(maybe...but not at what Martin is asking), and Utah(doubt it. Martin would get eaten alive out West).

His best bet is to ask for a trade, to a team like Dallas, who has a history of throwing around money(see: LaFrentz). But what would NJ want back? Nothing really that interests them besides the 3 untouchables: Dirk, Nash, Finley.

1st rounder would mean squat, since Dallas figures to be picking at the late 20's anyway.

The problem is NJ will want someone who can come in right away and contribute. And if a player can do that; chances are that team would rather have that individual than KMart. So NJ might have to take a step back and trade it for a younger prospect, or a lottery pick.

I sure as hell don't want Kenyon. I don't care how much he can help the Jazz. I hate him sooooooo much. He comes across as cocky and thinks he deserves better than anyone else. Screw That! Lol

Kenyon Martin is worth the 5.1 milliion he's due to get this year. no more. just IMAGINE him playing without kidd. some team may be on the verge of making a big mistake but i doubt anyone will even offer him as much as the 66 mil the nets are offering

The Nets probably think he's worth the $66 million they're offering, otherwise they wouldn't offer that to him.
I don't see him getting traded, it's just another negotiation move. I think the Nets know that he fits their style of play and adds to the team what they need. They probably wouldn't get as much value back for him, so it'll not very smart to trade him imho.

im not suprised at all. Kenyon has always had the ego of stereo-typical superstar.. That is plain selfish to want that much money.. and to leave if he doesnt get it is just pathetic. He's an allstar in his own mind if not the leagues. Some people are struggling to put food on the table and this guy is complaining about a 66 million dollar contract. That sh*t should be illegal.

Oh please. keep tellin gyourself that. players dont just DEMAND wayyy more money than theyre worth and then DEMAND to be traded (especially when they arent really good anough to DEMAND anything). Hes worht the five million the nets are paying him this year and no more. certainly not worth 66 million and not going to get offered any more than thwat anywhere else

I know he's not worth more than that, but the Nets are offering him that money as their first offer...
Why not try to get a little bit more? I don't think they want him to leave (otherwise they wouldn't offer 66 million), so they might come with a 2nd (higher) offer...

Everybody calm down. I fully belive that this is just Martin's agent trying to put pressure on the Nets management. Unless I hear or see the words from Martin's mouth, this is just a ploy from his agent.

rrrright. so was asking for 87 million dollars. they offered him 66 mil which is already more than hes worht and apparently its not enough. Id say this is pretty serious. Kenyon Martin playing without Kidd willjust look like a lost little boy [IMG]

^i thought the same thing. The Nets assured Kidd that they'd resign Martin, and Martin took advantage of that and is asking for as much as he wants (at least that's what i think's going on.)
