Eric Gelfand, an MSG spokesman, confirmed a "mutual parting of the ways." In a prepared statement he also said: "The timing of his departure is right for Marv and thus right for the network."

He was the best broadcaster for basketball that ever came. He had the best speaking ability, enjoyed 36 years with the greatest players, and knew a hell lot of imformation about basketball. Marv Albert will be deeply missed.

I love Marv, he was simply the best ever. I can't believe he's gone, we better not have Doug Collins calling games like he wanted to last year.....uch

    COME BACK MARV!!!!!!!

I was thinking it probably would be Doug Collins as well since he did a few games last year. And seems to be familiar with the team. Doug is decent, he knows his stuff most of the time. And always gives good perspective from the coaches point. But he is extremely boring, his commentary lacks character. And to replace someone like Marv, you would have to bring in someone with alot of personalty.

I would love for Marv Albert to come over to the Nets. We still need him calling games in the tri-state area.
