<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post"> The Nets will soon announce that Marv Albert will be the new voice of the team on YES, The Post has learned. The official word should come in the next week or two, according to sources. Albert will call approximately 50 games next year, while the Nets' longtime TV play-by-player Ian Eagle ? if he agrees to stay on ? would do the remainder. Though the length of Albert's contract is not yet known, it would figure to extend through the Nets' move to Brooklyn, which they hope to make in 2007. "I can't say anything about it," said Albert, who had the radio call of the Super Bowl Sunday. </div> Source
Don't like this move one bit. Ian was the voice of the Nets and he should continue to be. Marv is good, but he's just not the commentator I associate with any team other than the Knicks.
NOOOOOOOOOOO! (No offense Net fans.) You guys might have Marv now but Marv will always be a Knick at heart. So many memories...YES! and the foul. He is still a Knick and him and Clyde formed the best duo ever. Man I'm going to miss him especially since he is across the hudson! It's all good that will just spice up the rivalry!
I agree it will feel extremely crazy, Marv has so much history with the Knicks. But with Bruce looking to move to BK, Iam guessing he had something to with this....He wants Knicks fans at all cost to make that switch. And believe it our not Marv's commentary of games often brings in fans that normally wouldnt be interested. So this is a move to bring in a more world wide credible name then Ian Eagle. But Ian will be fine cause he calls NFL games on the radio and on TV from time to time.
