    Marvin Lewis challenged Chad Johnson verbally today when he said this:

    "I've stated our case with Chad," Lewis said. "He has a contract through 2011. He's stated without an opportunity to go to a different team and a new contract, he wasn't going to play. I think he's a man of his word and says he's not going to play, so don't play."

    Lewis also claims that no team has contacted the Bengals about a trade despite a report that the Redskins have offered multiple #1s(although one is thought to be conditional)....Other reports have the Cowboys and Eagles interested....

    Its one thing to stay strong in negotiations, its another to pass on a chance to improve your team. Why would you prefer a digruntled and useless holdout to multiple 1st round draft picks? If you don't get a good offer, then hold onto the rights, but why would you refuse to listen? This is why the Bengals are a freaking joke as a franchise....this tactic that Marvin Lewis is taking will accomplish nothing and will only further strain the relationship between the team and player.....I now think theres a good chance that Chad Johnson might sit if hes forced to stay in Cincinnati....

    Trading Chad now would cost the Bengals $8 million in dead space plus another 5 million for the additional first round pick. One thing you don't have listed is a juicy rumor about Chad's finances. Apparently he is having some significant financial issues and he can't afford to sit out the season.

    The bigger picture in all this is that other owners are privately giving Mike Brown support because Brown is taking on Big Bad Drew. All of this commotion has been orchestrated by Drew and there is a 90% chance that the information about the trade offers was leaked by him.

    I believe this is good for the NFL and I can't wait for Chad's sit ups in the driveway moment that is guaranteed to come.

    No it doesn't. He'll be treated as a hold out and he won't get paid. Music to Mike Brown's ears

    How do you pick a side here? Drew Rosenhaus is the anti-christ and Chad should fire him. On the other hand, Mike Brown is the biggest cheapskate in the NFL which is why the Bengals front office has done nothing to better the team recently. Think back to the Steelers-Bengals playoff game. What have the Bengals added to the team to get make them better? Nothing. That's why the team is headed in the other direction. You can't expect star players to stay satified on losing teams. No one is going to win here. Chad Johnson, Carson Palmer and Hoosyourmama are all wasting the most productive years of their careers. Marvin Lewis will eventually be fired because he can't win without decent players and Mike Brown won't get him any. Bengal fans have a lovely new park in which they can see their team get smeared each and every week. Yes, the Dolphins have fallen on hard times, but I can keep hope because I know Wayne H. will and does do whatever he can to make the Dolphins better. If something doesn't work, then he goes in another direction. I don't see how Bengal fans keep their heads up because Mike Brown will keep doing the same things no matter how many years of losing they bring.

    2 thoughts;

    1) Where do you think beef got his bags a few seasons back
    2) At least, the Cardinals make an attempt to try.

    Using the media to try to get traded rather than keeping things internal to the organization is the first big mistake here. This is probably going to get ugly. Lewis has no choice but to call him out.

    I think back to the Mike McKenzie debacle in Green Bay when he started demanding trades in the media. We told him to pi$$ off and then he started his string of phantom hangnail injuries.

    Something tells me Chad Johnson is going to develop a limp in the next few weeks...
