    VITALS: 6-9, 230, North Carolina

OVERVIEW: Williams, the Atlantic Coast Conference Rookie of the Year, averaged 11.6 points and 6.6 rebounds despite not starting a single game for the national champion Tar Heels this season. Williams was projecetd as a lottery pick out of high school after averaging 29 points, 15.5 rebounds, five blocks and five assists at Bremerton High School in Washington, but he chose to go to North Carolina for one season.

LIKELY DRAFT POSITION: Either the first or second overall pick. If Williams is not picked first overall by Milwaukee, Atlanta could entertain trade offers for the No. 2 pick, but that would affect Williams' destination, not his draft position.

COMPARATIVE UPSIDE: Tracy McGrady, Richard Jefferson

    COMPARATIVE DOWNSIDE: Joe Smith

    ROLE PROJECTION: Future superstar.

POSITIVES: Williams is explosive going to the basket and already is able to pull up and shoot a smooth, balanced shot when his drives are cut off. He has shown the ability to shoot confidently out to the college 3-point line and is an excellent free-throw shooter. He not only is a high flyer but also can go up two or three times for a rebound without losing lift. He has a perfect NBA small forward's frame.

SHORTCOMINGS: Williams doesn't have much high-level basketball experience, having played as the sixth man on North Carolina's championship team as a freshman. With most players who have this little experience, there is a grace period while they get accustomed to the pace, physicality and mental demands of the NBA game. Williams seems to be such a complete package, coaches, fans and teammates won't have much patience with anything but a rapid transition to the NBA game.

I think its all on target but the comparisons, for one he's a forward either SF or PF, the RJ comparison is okay but I dont see him playing like T-Mac at all, and downside.. He doesnt even play the same position as Joe Smith, from what I've seen Joe Smith is a Center more than a Power Forward. If I were gonna give him a comparison for upside it'd probably be James Worthy but that might be stretching it, and a little biased... Good Draft Capsule though.

Why does Marvin get a free ride when some very complete, full effort players get picked apart. Has anyone seen him play solid D more than 2 or 3 min. a game? Anyone ever catch him boxing out for a rebound. I'm sure I was not the only person who saw UNC- Duke when super marvin thought he'd go in an slam over Sheldon Williams. It didn't work. So soon Marvin brings it again,no tricks jukes or power-same outcome,Sheldon stuffs him. Marvin really impressed me negatively when he tried 2 more times and got stuffed,4 blocks for Sheldon, cause Marvin did not have the insight and skill to either bring it better-or don't try.

I was often stunned at how easy a 6-3 guard could box him out on a rebound, that G would risk permanent injury trying to box out May. Marvin had always done well enough just off his physical ability,he never needed to WORK at it,he never needed to really get the all-around skills. I saw the move S May used once to score against Sheldon,Butt bump-shoulder bump-head fake-jump sideways with a mid-air double pump. Complicated. Marvin comes in like Sheldon W is some 6-4 high school kid, then is the fool to try it again and again.

He's not a bad guy, seems bright, and at some point PROBABLY will decide he WANTS to hustle, wants to learn more skills. If that revelation came today,in 2 years he'd be a damn good player. If that revelation does not happen for a while, some people will be mighty dissappointed.
Marvin CAN be a great player-but he's going to be catching up (assuming he puts in the effort) to even a HS guy like Green who has invested some time in gaining skills
