Is this a move to open up a roster spot for a potential trade? Whoever signs Roger Mason Jr. will get a steal out of it... I've seen this guy play in summer league and he's a nice role player for 1-2 guard rotation. I tried to get the link but it's not working at the moment so just go to www.raptors.com and it should say on the headline that "Also ... the Raptors announced Thursday afternoon that they have waived guard Roger Mason Jr.."

EDIT: Okay here's the article from tsn.ca.

True, I guess he didn't fit the run-and-gun style of play that Mitchell wanted to implement. Oh well, I hope a deal is in the makings.

Speculation is that they opened up a roster spot for a possible trade...But Babcock said thats not correct...Could be a good possibility though, even though Rob denies it.

Roger wasn't getting to play here, and hopefully a team like NO (with Garcia gone for the year) or Indiana can pick him up.

i was always curious about mason because for a guy that hasn't played one minute for team 8 games under .500 he seemed to be really cool with the star players (vince+jalen) and sat beside the coaches. this always confounded me, it seem like mason was part of some basketball freemason society or something.

Maybe this was the best move for Mason and Raps... He is young and talented and could find a team where he could at least play 15min a game... Raps werent even using him
