Materazzi Wins Another Defamation Case

In another edition of the Materazzi-Zidane relationship, the former has come out on top yet again, after winning another defamation case.

One of the most controversial incidents in the history of the World Cup took place in the 2006 final between Italy and France, and more significantly, between Marco Materazzi and Zinedine Zidane.

It has been a never-ending saga since that day in Berlin, and in its most recent edition, Materazzi has just won yet another defamation case in Britain, against the Daily Mail.

After the final in Berlin the British press was outraged with the Italian defender, accusing him of having seriously offended Zidane through the use of racist insults – allegations that were later proved to be untrue.

The British newspaper has been forced to financially compensate the player for their accusations, although the exact figures have not been disclosed.

Hopefully this puts the saga between Zidane and Materazzi to an end once and for all.
