http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/ncf/...erback-matt-barkley-set-announce-future-plans I thought this was appropriate for the Ducks forum as USC will be your main competition next year if he comes back. Personally I'd like to see him return to USC for one more year. He deserves to play in a major bowl game imo.
last rumor (so take it fwiw) was that if he is projected in the top 10 he is gone. I wont cry not having to face him at the Coliseum next year, but if he comes back I think Oregon is game for a battle.
according to WalterFootball.com the current NFL draft order is this- Round 1 Indianapolis (1-13) (Manning,Luck?) Minnesota (2-12) (Ponder) St. Louis (2-12) (Bradford) Jacksonville (4-10) (Gabbert) Cleveland (4-10) (Mccoy???) Tampa Bay (4-10) (Freeman) Washington (5-9) ??? Carolina (5-9) (Newton) Miami (5-9) ??? Buffalo (5-9) (Fitzpatrick) alot of the current top 10 are already invested in a young QB. Maybe Cleveland, Miami, or Washington take him? Before Seattle got hot and got out of the top 10 I thought for sure there was no way Pete Carroll would pass on him with their need for a QB. But there could be teams who move up to get him?
possible but isnt Campbell like 30 almost? Would give a couple years with someone like Barkley to be the "Understudy"
not sure if the site is 100% or not but according to this our home games are Arizona, Colorado, Stanford, Washington and our away games are Arizona State, California, Oregon State, USC, Washington St. http://www.fbschedules.com/ncaa-12/pac-10/2012-oregon-ducks-football-schedule.php
I believe we play USC in an away game. What the hey? I thought all signs pointed to Barkley heading for the NFL. Watching ESPN now and they are showing a few tweets from people close to Barkley and within the program that say he's staying. Crap. Barkley is very good. I think he'll be better than Luck as a pro.
Yes, I think that the PAC-12 schedule is just inverted next year relative to this year. Presumably they schedule in two year chunks with home-and-home pairings for other-division games. Ed O.
In DC the insiders are saying it's a "lock" that Shanahan trades up to get one of the Luck/Barkley/Jones/Griffin III group. Right now they're talking about whether or not to let Rex come back as a backup.
Well then we wont play UCLA for two years in a row, unless they make it to another Pac-12 championship?
Sounds like it is pretty much a guarantee that Barkley will come back next year, which is good in my opinion. The Pac-12 would be absolute garbage without a good USC team
Or Utah. That is my understanding, yes. I'm not sure that it's articulated with certainty anywhere. If I'm right, there's going to be stretches in the future where we don't play USC for a couple of years... THAT could make for an interesting Pac-12 title game, couldn't it? Ed O.
Mark Sanchez did just that when he announced. Leinhart had a presser to announce he was staying, though. I've thought for some time that Barkley would stay, but I don't think they'll be as good as some seem to think next year (preseason #1 I've seen in some reports). They still have holes, and they still are going to have to replace some very good talent.
Yep he announced he's returning for his senior season. http://espn.go.com/los-angeles/ncf/story/_/id/7380760/matt-barkley-usc-trojans-says-staying-school Sounds like there will be a real Pac-12 championship game next year.
Out of curiosity... what bearing does Barkley coming back (which is great news for SC fans btw) have on there being a "real" pac 12 title game next year? There would have been a "real" one next year regardless.
