Matt 'The Hammer' Hamill has decided to retire after his loss @ UFC 133. It was his 2nd consecutive loss. His reasoning is that its too much for his body to handle and that he hasn't had an injury free training camp in years. He has lost his passion for fighting in that sense. Nice to see a fighter walk away from the sport they love when they realize it is time to hang them up. I still think he has a few good fights left in him but I respect his decision to go out without any serious injuries. Incredible story and a damn good career for the Hammer!
I kind of understand this. As tough as he is, he isn't going to reach the upper echelon of fighters in the LHW division because he has a definite breaking point. Plus his body has been through a lot after years and years of amateur competition. Cheers to the Hammer.
