“We’re not feared right now. I don’t think teams come into the Moda Center and fear a game. I don’t think teams know that when they wake up and have shootaround at their place that the Trail Blazers are in town. That was like that earlier in the season. We’ve got to get that back and we can.” Taken from : http://hangtime.blogs.nba.com/2015/02/03/morning-shootaround-feb-3-2/#blazers
I want to say it started right after Christmas, but we were putting up a shit ton of 3's. I'll be the first to admit, the 3's taken against the Sixers and Knicks were fine, because they were open and came off of dribble-penetration. Once we had success shooting so many from downtown, everyone on the squad fell in love with the shot and that's when I really started to worry. It's even worse at home, because I feel like we go for the home run shot way to often, trying to ignite the crowd into a frenzy, rather than working the clock and beating the defense with movement, precision, and execution. Go back to playing that way and teams will start to fear us.
All this changes with the return of Rolo and Kaman coming in off the bench. Now Meyers can actually sub in for Lamarcus and hold his own most of the time.
We've always shot lots of threes and they usually come from movement, precision, and execution, usually starting with LaMarcus getting the ball in the post. We're a good three point shooting team. We're in a slump but we should through it. In the meantime, LaMarcus has been dominating. So when the other guys get it going, we'll be fine. Tonight will be a good win for us.
Unfortunately, the law of averages is a myth. It's all independent events, there's no real 'due'. Though, it's highly unlikely he'll continue this trend. Damn you stats class for taking away my fun!!
If a player shoots 70% from three in the first month of the season, he does not shoot it that way the rest of the season. He always regresses to the mean. Doesn't it happen the other way around? That means Batum is about to dominate, lol.
