There was many rumors going on that King and Cheeks are in discussing on having him coach the 76ers next season.

This is just one of the many articles on this. Even though he's denying it. Why wouldnt he? His team is playing much better and their pusing for the Playoff's. Him rumor about leaving wouldnt make things any better for the Blazers.

But do you think having Cheeks coach the Sixers would help the Sixers out next season, and would he be able to co-exist with Iverson?

I would love to have Cheeks as a coach if he can deal with the Jailblazers I think he can deal with AI.

I saw that in the New York Post. It's not going to happen.
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">There's a bogus rumor circulating throughout the league that purports the 76ers will import Maurice Cheeks from Portland during the summer ? because of a mutually revered relationship with Iverson ? and Jim O'Brien will replace him.

It ain't gonna happen! You can quote me on it because my source would like to remain anonymous. For one thing, people conveniently forget the Blazers rejected the 76ers permission to talk to Cheeks last summer, then extended his contract.

More importantly, should the 76ers find they have no other choice but to move Iverson (if he hasn't completely devalued his stock and standards), it tends to make the whole concept moot. </div>

The writer made a great point. The solution to this is to fine and suspend Iverson. He's been creating problems for all of his coaches, and this is just more drama he's created. Iverson claimed that All Stars shouldn't come off the bench, but has he ever thought about the definition of an All Star? To me, they shouldn't skip practice, call out coaches, and create problems for their organization. He may be an All Star on the court, but off court he's just a trouble making thug. Theres more to the NBA than putting the ball in the basket. His problems are leaking into the media, and more importantly, causing losses for the struggling 76ers.

Even when he's playing, they aren't winning ballgames. Maybe it's time for AI to move on.

<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">PHILADELPHIA - The man who everyone believes would be the Sixers coach - if the fans had a vote, if Chris Ford decides he's had enough and if his current team allows him to leave - is used to this by now.

For a full year, Maurice Cheeks has been hearing he is destined to coach the Sixers.

Each time he attempts to deny it, the snickers begin. The more he protests, the more people don't believe him. It's become a running joke between Cheeks and the rest of the Portland Trail Blazers.

"Cheeks is staying in Portland," teased veteran guard Damon Stoudamire when he spotted his coach surrounded by a media horde prior to last night's game with the Sixers. </div>

yea the truth is they wanted cheeks since brown left they jsut couldnt get portlands permission to talk to him now that portland has missed the playoffs and so has philly mabye them and portland can work something out like the rockets did with van gundey because they had to give the knicks money even though van gundy wasnt the coach he was still under contract with the orgainization and they needed compensation

Not only that. But the Mo Cheeks was given permission to talk to the Sixers about a month ago.

After the Sixers and Portland Game like last week or so. The media was talking to Mo about coaching the Sixers. I forgot what he said exactly. But I real certain that he said there could be a chance. On the other hand Damon Stoudamire simply said 'Mo Cheeks is staying in Portland". I really hope he comes to Philadelphia.

It's very possible for him to coach with the 76ers. The only concern is: Will Iverson stay? If Iverson decides to leave, the 76ers wouldn't need him as much since AI will not be there to cause problems.
