<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">DALLAS -- Dallas Mavericks center Evan Eschmeyer, who missed all of last season following knee surgery, retired Saturday. "I am sad it has come to an end, but I know I have given every ounce of effort every second I have played," he said. "My only wish is that I would have been a little healthier. Sometimes the mind is willing, but the body is not able." Eschmeyer, 29, played 153 games during his four-year NBA career with New Jersey, Dallas, and Golden State. He averaged 2.8 points and 3.9 rebounds in 14 minutes per game. </div> Source Sad news. As most of you might know, Todd McCullouch recently announced his retirement, another Center in the NBA, at the age of the 28. I can't imagine how hard is it for these guys, at a relatively young age, trying the hardest to comeback, but their bodies won't allow them. Obviously it's different for Todd, but its tough for both guys, who both are giving up their passion. Evan's contract will still be paid by the Mavs, but won't count against their salary cap.
im so glad hes gone. he was horrible. now we have more cap space. tariq abdul wahad should retire too. he gets paid too much to do squat.
Well he wasn`t like horrible, but yeah he never really produced for us and the Warriors. All in all, you hate seeing a player that young retire.
Mavs, there goes your hopes for a playoff run now. ... Actually, it's a good situation for the Mavs, but a bad one for Eschmeyer. How many centers do you have, anyways? Dampier, Bradley...Pavel's hanging around. Evan would've never made it into the game.
Actually I doubt he would ever play a game nevermind crack their rotation, Dallas have 4 main centers. Dampier, DJ Mbenga, Bradley and Booth. Although I have seen reports that Dallas will play Booth as one of the back-up power forwards as well. I would imagine Pavel will sit on the IR all year.
How is this for an idea to get a center off our roster.. Trade Bradly for some semi productive PF, adn the playoffs is where we will be.
