Game: Dallas Mavericks @ Miami Heat
Date: Thursday Nov. 11
Time: 8:00 PM EST
Channel: TNT

Things to look for:

[*]Keep your eyes on Rasual Butler and Udonis Haslem.
[*]How well Rasual Butler and Udonis Haslem defend <strike>Mr. Boogie Nights and Josh Howard. Udonis will face one of the many dominant PFs in the West. Lets' see if he can hang with the big boys.</strike> Can someone tell me who would be replacing Dirk, Finley, and Howard if they don't play?
[*]How well Miami defends against Pick-n-Rolls and Screens. This seems to be a big area of weakness for Miami so let's see if they have improved on this or are still being exploited.
[*]How well Miami defends off the dribble. Miami's been getting beat a lot off the dribble against the Wizards so they will be looking to improve on this.
[*]Eric Dampier called himself the answer to a team's Shaq woes for whoever picked him up. Knowing the Diesel probably heard about this, Shaq will probably turn it up a notch and will look to humiliate Dampier. Let's see if Dampier can avoid this and live up to his own hype.[/list]

Get your preds in early

My Pred: It'd be a close game and a good challenge for Udonis if the Diggler is playing. I'd take the Heat to win it because they can land open and contested shots and would only have to be concerend with Dirk + Finley and making them take a tough shot. But since Finley, Howard and Boogie Nights might not play I take the Heat by 12pts. 6pts if the Mavericks bring in their full roster.

note: if someone wishes to make a game preview pm me the code or post the preview and I will post it here for all to read :-)

New guy here, just found this awesome forum, and wanted to give my input. I've been following the heat since the days of Ron Rothstein and Rory Sparrow!

Tough game against the Mavericks. This will be the first true test to see how the heat face up to a west coast powerhouse. Look to stop Michael Finley and Dirk Diggler. Dwayne Wade has his hands full with Jason Terry, and of course Shaq will step it up a notch against the self proclaimed "Shaq stopper". Personally I think Dampier is an overpaid mediocre center.

If the heat stick to the game plan and the forwards (Butler and Haslem) step it up, the heat should not have a problem. Look for Wade and Shaq to have big games

Wade: 20 pts 6 assists
Shaq: 28 pts, 10 rebs, 8 assists, 3 blocks

Also, Eddie Jones needs to bring out his defense and stop the penetration. Judging by the loss they had last night to a smaller Magic team, I think the Heat will take the victory.

Prediction: Heat by 8 over the Mavericks.

The 24 hour thread starting curse might hit you, although i'm a newbie still i know that it's usually bad luck to start a thread for a game, in over 24 hours time. But to let you know Finley will be out for this game, and Howard and Dirk could miss it as well. But the most likely lineup will be

Harris
Daniels
Howard
Dirk
Dampier

I've been waiting for this game for ever but now i just wish that Dirk and Howard sit this one out.

I've never heard of this before. I hope haven't done something horrible to jinx the Heat chances of winning [IMG]

This should be the first real test for the HEat. We also have to play San Antonio (away) on Friday. I think we'll be fine. Teams are still underrating our bench players. We have plenty of talent in this team to beat anyone in the league. Damon Jones is shooting great so far, he did not hesitate at all last game.

Finley suffered from an ankle injury against the Orlando Magic. He was driving the lane when he stepped on Michael Bradley's foot and twisted his ankle. He stayed in the game but you could tell he was injured. If he does play tonight, he won't play as much as normal and he probably won't be at the top of his game.

Dirk hurt his ankle against Golden State the night before the Magic game and he was originally going to sit out Orlando's game. Same for Howard.

On whether their sitting out tomorrow that was just my opinion for Nellie. It's still early in the season and i'd rather have the injury stuff to happen now than come May.

Samoan-maverick, right now it looks like Dirk will play (judging by Yahoo.com Sports). Who will replace Finley and Josh Howard and Dirk if all three don't play?

And in other News:

What a bad loss.... let's hope we can rebound against San Antonio tomorrow.

We have to put this loss behind us and focus on next game vs. a harder more experienced team. Let's go Heat, we can do this.

just got back from the game. what a nightmare!

Mavericks were shooting 70% from 3 point line up to the 3rd quarter!!!
Nowitzki was AMAZING.
Eddie Jones could'nt make Anything.

And the cherry on top, Dwyane Wade gets injured.

This is one of the few games I've been to in my life that I actually left early.

Lets all hope that D-Wade is not seriously hurt.

Let's not panic, it's only the 5th game of the season. Eddie will not shoot like this every game.(hopefully)

By the way, Dallas has a bad ass team. When you can afford to have Jerry Stackhouse & Jason Terry coming off the bench your in pretty good shape. Also that rookie point guard they have showed alot of poise throughout the game.
