I guess the Mavs like their coach as they responded by taking care of business against the team with the worst record in the Western Conference. The Mavs won every quarter, even there was a noticeable let down in intensity when the Blazers? youth played most of the second half. The Mavs don?t really gain any ground on the Spurs as they are on their way to a win with the Suns not having Nash or Barbosa. On to Utah! Excellent camera work! +36 Johnson: B+, Avery spent one of his bullets after the Mavs barely beat the Blazers in Dallas, but he seems to have gotten his team?s attention. Probably didn?t hurt that Devin got the start against the Blazers quick tandem of Blake and Dixon. Griffin: B+; Adrian again was quietly effective tonight, often battling with Zach. Griffin had 4 points (2-2 FG, 0-1 FT) to go with 3 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 blocked shot. +8 Nowitzki: A; Dirk had a season high 16 attempts from the stripe on his way to his 23rd double-double of the season with 33 points and 10 rebounds. +36 Diop: B+; DeSagana was doing well tonight before getting clocked by an errant elbow from Zach. Diop went hard to the floor and then to the locker room. DeSagana started the second half, but was feeling dizzy and went to the locker room for good. Diop had 2 points (1-1 FG) to go with 5 rebounds and a blocked shot in 16 minutes. Zero turnovers. +8 Terry: B+; Jason had a quiet night except for the third period where Devin found Jason behind the arc three times. Jason ended up with 19 points (6-11 FG, 4-7 treys, 3-4 FT) to go with 2 assists and a steal. Zero turnovers. +16 Harris: A; Devin got the start tonight and took advantage of the opportunity with 12 points (5-10 FG, 2-2 FT) to go with 7 assists, 2 rebounds and 1 steal against only 1 turnover. Devin got big-time kudos from Avery in the post-game interview. +16 Dampier: A; Erick was very good tonight as he brought some DA-like energy to the floor on his way to 9 points (4-5 FG, 1-1 FT) to go with 5 rebounds, 1 steal and a blocked shot. +14 Daniels: B; Marquis had a good game tonight off the bench with 13 points (4-7 FG, 5-5 FT) in 24 minutes. +13 Powell: B+; Josh is not the scoring threat Keith is, but Powell did give Dirk some rest at power forward tonight with some of his best play this season.
