Mavs 109 Heat 90 Grades: Josh Turns Out the Heat

The Mavs take a win on their first on four games in five nights behind the Maverick left off the All-Star ballot. Not to worry, though, if Josh can start putting up games like this consistently, the coaches should put him in. Its not that the other Mavs starters didn?t play well, they did, but Josh took game high honors in points and rebounds.
Hopefully the Mavs won?t get too full of themselves as the next game could be a real bear?

UPN21 : B, Technical difficulties overcame the broadcast in the second half, still the timeout shots in the first half were exhilarating! +24

Johnson: B, Avery ran this one quite well. Timeouts were appropriate and the Mavs responded to Avery well.

Howard: A; Super game by Josh with another double-double with a game high 25 points and a game high 11 rebounds. Zero turnovers. +30

Nowitzki: A, Dirk started slow, in fact he was the last starter to score. Dirk heated up when it counted though on his way to 23 points on the strength of 4-5 from behind the arc. Dirk pitched in 8 rebounds to back up Josh to boot. Only one turnover. +21

Dampier: A, Erick took a ride up his own personal roller coaster and turned in a stellar performance in front of Shaq. Erick got his 2 blocked shots and 6 rebounds to go with 17 points (6-9 FG, 5-6 FT). Only one turnover. +21

Daniels: B, After a fairly good first half, Marquis got a little loose in the second on his way to a game high 6 turnovers. The redemption is he nearly pulled a double-double with 14 points and 9 rebounds. +15

Terry: B, It?s been a long time since Jason delivered any where near 10 assists. Foul trouble gave him an early seat on the bench, but Jason still gets 10 points to get his own double-double. +12

Harris: B, Devin?s box is not too spectacular, but Devin did provide a jolt of energy with his hustle tonight. Sure was fun to watch him throw the bigger Simien to the floor fighting for the ball. +6

Van Horn: B, Keith came back with a solid game on his way to 8 points and 2 rebounds. Zero turnovers. +6

Diop: C, DeSagana fought hard but was largely ineffective. Zero turnovers. +2

Powell: C; Essentially a DNP with less than a minute on the floor. +0

    M?Benga: DNP-CD.

    Armstrong : DNP-CD.

    Marshall : DNP-CD.

Podkolzin: DNC-CD, Pavel had surgery to repair his right foot and ankle and is expected to miss three to four months.

Stackhouse: DNP-CD, Jerry was inactive, out with a sore knee that continues to swell.

Christie: Doug was waived by the Mavs earlier in the day.
