Antawn Jamison's an All-Star in Washington.

Antoine Walker's averaging nearly a double-double in Atlanta.

    Michael Finley's here but drifting.

    And the Mavs?

Never mind what happened Tuesday in a 107-100 loss to Chicago, which, if anything, was an ugly reminder of what they used to be in the worst of times.

Guys standing around on the perimeter.

Lazy jump shots. No defensive energy.

    Welcome back, Don Nelson.

    Seemed like old times.

"Coaching isn't that difficult," said Nellie, commenting on his return from the injured list, "but the players have to play."

And they didn't. Dirk Nowitzki was 8 of 24 from the field. Even worse, Finley was 5 of 16 with one rebound in 43 minutes.

One rebound, and that after Nellie pulled him over and practically begged him to get a board.

Especially in this loss, Finley's play was one more indication that this is a team undergoing a personality change, and not a season too soon. </div>
