<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">DALLAS -- The Dallas Mavericks signed first-round draft pick Maurice Ager on Saturday.

Ager, a 6-foot-5, 202-pound guard from Michigan State, was drafted with the 28th pick. He finished his four-year career with the Spartans ranked 11th in career scoring with 1,554 points. He averaged 19.3 points a game as a senior.

    Terms were not released.

Dallas coach Avery Johnson has said Ager may be the perimeter defender the team lacked this past season. The Mavs' season ended with defeat to the Miami Heat in the NBA Finals, a series dominated by Miami guard Dwyane Wade.</div>

I hope he can become the perimeter defender that we need. He has all the physical ability so I hope he can contribute right away. Until then, I stand by my idea that Mardy Collins would have been a better fit for our team.
