    <font color=""RoyalBlue"">DB Scoop: 'Sexy' Deal Discussed</font>
    By Mike Fisher -- DB.com

DallasBasketball.com has learned that the Mavs have quietly laid the groundwork necessary to be bidders in the Kevin Garnett Sweepstakes, with a backup plan that could land an impact lottery-level player in Thursday?s NBA Draft.

?We know what?s going on out there,?? Mavs president Donnie Nelson tells DB.com. ?If there is a way to get something like that done, we?ll probe it.??

From what we can gather, Dallas has done more than probe. NBA sources say Minnesota has been very clear in talks what they would require from the Mavs: A draft pick between No. 3 and No. 7 overall; a package of expiring contracts; and a future young star.

And the Mavs, we?re told, have informed the T?Wolves that ?we are not scared of the money part?? and that ?we are interested.??</div>

    <u>Price Too Great</u>
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jun 27 - The Mavericks, like 29 other teams, have explored options on whether Kevin Garnett is obtainable from the Minnesota Timberwolves.

Like most of their competitors, the Mavericks have decided the price is too great, according to NBA sources.

The Mavericks are not interested in dismantling their team, which is what it would take to pair Garnett with Dirk Nowitzki. -- Dallas Morning News </div>

Looks like KG to Dallas is a no go.

This isnt over the Mavs are supposedly rumored to be trying to trade Devin Harris to the Bucks for the 6th pick. And if the T'wolves are okay with a Josh Howard and Number 6 with another throw in deal i'd do it in a heart beat. Josh Howard is better than Al Jefferson.

    PG Terry
    SG Buck
    SF Garnett
    PF Dirk
    CC Dampier

Kevin Garnett would play small forward? I'm pretty sure Dampier would just come off the bench. [IMG]

Harris for number 6 pick is interesting. But your forgetting Kg is making 22 million dollars. And Howard is only making about 9 million. So it still wouldnt work. Mavs would have to package howard, number 6 pick, and possibly Erick Dampiers like 10 million dollar contract for it to even be close. But The Wolves wont want Dampier because he doesnt have an expiring contract.

So idk how this works unless we gut the team or sign and trade Stackhouse. Which could work actually. But then were assentially gutting the team.
    PG-Terry
    SG-Ager(Buckner is on the block)
    SF-Devean George??
    PF-Dirk
    C-Kevin Garnett

unless we move Dirk to SF. Idk sounds iffy, but what Mark Cuban wants, Mark Cuban gets. If Cuban wants to win now, that would help. But kill us in the long run because are team would be full of old veterans and no lottery draft picks. Plus we lose all depth, and KG,Dirk, and Terry cant play every minute of every game and what if one of them gets injured?
idk the more it hikn about it the more it worries me.

Garnett can definitely play the small forward position. Besides T-Mac you really dont fear that position as much as the others. Moving Garnett to center would be alright to when we play Duncan and the suns. But its not like we are in desperate need of a change, maybe, i dont know i've just been trying to forget this ridiculous season. It threw off my perspective of the Mavs like crazy. 67 wins but lost in the first round... ah forget it.

    <u>Rumor Not Valid</u>
<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">Jun 28 - An Eastern Conference insider said he'd heard the Mavericks were entertaining an offer to get the No. 6 pick from Milwaukee for Devin Harris, a deal that might have included other players.

While that proposal might make sense because Harris grew up in Milwaukee and the Bucks need a point guard, it wasn't valid.

Rather, the Mavericks are taking a cautious approach to the draft. They have brought in more than 25 players over the last 10 days, and virtually all are projected to go late in the first round or in the second round. -- Dallas Morning News

    # While the rumor mill has been off the hook league-wide leading to tonight's NBA Draft -- the latest of local interest had Devin Harris headed to Milwaukee for the Bucks' No. 6 pick -- the Mavs appear ready to go into the draft with the same three second-round picks they've had since acquiring the 34th pick in the February deal that sent Anthony Johnson to Atlanta.

"He's going to be part of this franchise for a long, long time," Mavs president of basketball operations Donnie Nelson said about Harris last week. -- Fort Worth Star-Telegram </div>

    Thank goodness for that.

Why would Mark Cuban want to change the team around?? Remember Mark, you guys just won 67 games. I know the first round loss was embarassing but get over it. No need to remodel the team.

Exactly. we had one bad series. If we woulda played Clippers first round instead, nobody would even be talking about KG in the dallas organization.

This trade doesn't help either team. It's stupid.
