Last couple of games he's actually been pretty solid off the bench. Too bad Mavs can't get Kevin Martin for him.
We have a lot of pieces that are easy to trade at the moment. Howard makes $11.381-million and that plus 15% next year, but then his contract expires. Not hard to deal with. You have to figure we'd be moving Hedo or Calderon. More likely Hedo. Hedo for Howard straight up works. Dallas would probably ask for Weems or a pick as well.
hedo for howard? i dont see dallas doing it because the money is comparable but the term is terrible on hedo's contract. nevertheless, i dont want howard- the last two years have been a write off with his bum ankle. plus, i thought derozan fried his ass in toronto and thats unacceptable when the sole motivation of the trade would be to upgrade your wing spot and howard isnt that guy. the guy i would target is iggy because he's a freak and philly looks willing to deal. although, i think the only way to acquire iggy would be to give up derozan in such a package. and in regards to iggy's game- he rebounds, defends and passes at an exceptional level which are all things we could use on this team.
i think he's lost half a step and thats the difference in the nba between a star and a marginal rotational player
I don't disagree, but keep in mind you're talking about Mark Cuban who runs his franchise like a tween runs his 2K team. I think Shawn Bradley is still making like $8M a year from the Mavs until 2013. Why would Dallas consider Hedo for Howard? Why would Toronto want Howard? I dunno. I'm just creating a trade scenario based on some loopy rumour.
2 years ago this would have been an awesome trade for the raptors, nowadays though, I am not sure if it would be that solid of a move. I mean I've been ragging on how Hedo doesn't do much for this team but I've definitely noticed a change in the offense when he's not playing. I'd rather the raps stick with Hedo for the rest of this season and see how it plays out, it's not as though things are so terrible right now.(when we're healthy.)
yeah cuban is definitely the wild card- he's probably the only owner in the nba who would take back money without consideration of the tax and if u dont believe- ask shawn marion's accountant.
fyi, doug smith has summarily dismissed the howard rumours, saying the raps brass have "no interest" in josh howard's services. too bad we dont still have a franchise in vancouver because he would have been an absolute star in van city.
