A source outside the Southwest Division confirmed Wednesday that the Spurs offered Nesterovic to Dallas for Tariq Abdul-Wahad, and the Mavericks turned it down. Why would the Spurs want Abdul-Wahad, an injury-plagued swingman who has played only 14 games over the past three seasons? To dump a large portion of Nesterovic's contract. </div> Source
I don't think that would have been bad. Nesterovic has been a productive big man. And he is 7'1 and can block shots. But I guess the Mavs have better ideas
Not a half-bad trade for the Mavs, for one it would give Dampier some competition at the center spot. With the Warriors, he played a lot better when he had Adonal Foyle battling for his minutes. Abdul-Wahad was doing absolutely nothing for the Mavs, except cashing in on his massive contract. I actually thought they were going to buy him out, I guess that fell through. Nesterovic does have a high price tag, but it's not outrageous, and Mark Cuban has no problem paying the luxury tax.
Exactly. I can't even name the last time I saw Wahad on the court during a game. And with Nesterovic they wouldnt have to sign a big man like Hunter for an outrageous amount of money. I would've pulled the trigger in a heartbeat, but thats just me
