NFLPA President Kevin Mawae, a 16-year veteran who played for the Seahawks, Jets, and Titans, has decided to call it quits.

Several media outlets are reporting that Mawae will announce his retirement on Friday.

Mawae wanted to play another year. He has claimed on multiple occasions that he believes his role as NFLPA President caused teams to shy away from him. At one point, he said that the Titans had promised to bring him back for another season. Coach Jeff Fisher disputed that contention.
