Max Seibald, midfielder for the Denver Outlaws, was named the Offensive Player of the Week and Chesapeake Bayhawks' midfielder, Alex Smith was named Defensive Player of the Week, following their performances on Saturday. Seibald helped Denver avoid an 0-2 start by scoring three goals and adding three assists, and accounted for almost half of the Outlaws points, as they defeated Long Island Lizards 13-10. Denver Head Coach and General Manager Brian Reese said about his second year midfielder, "He scored big goals and made the big plays when we needed them most," said Reese. "He drew special attention for the Long Island defense and still was able to produce." Seibald's scored two goals in the third quarter, which proved to be decisive in the Outlaws win. The game was tied 6-6 at the half, before the Outlaws outscored Long Island 7-2 in the third and were able to hold on for the win, despite being shut out in the fourth quarter. Drafted out of Cornell in 2009, Seibald played in 10 games for the Outlaws as a rookie, scoring 12 points. Seibald is already one point shy of last season's total through just two games this season. Seibald and the Outlaws play a second straight home game this Saturday, May 29 at 7 pm against the Toronto Nationals, who are winless on the season.
