Game day in South Bend, Knoxville, Columbus or Ann Arbor, for instance. The final out of a 2A state championship game. Muhammad Ali doing magic tricks at a children's hospital. I want to see Ron McBride leading the pep band after a win and LaVell Edwards lobbing one-liners at a charity roast, too. Especially, though, I want to see Jerry Sloan coaching the bejeebees out of the game again. I know Sloan is stubborn and even bullheaded. But there's something about his absolute earnestness of purpose that ? on and off the court ? always entertains me. It reminds me that personal success is seldom about clever quotes or slick marketing.</div> <div align="center">Link</div>
I agree with the writer. Sloan's earnest, blue-collar approach is the kind of grumpy, but level-headed approach you just have to love. And, it gets great results. There's little more you can ask for, and it's the kind of basketball that should be promoted and appreciated.
