According to fightnews.com, Floyd Mayweather Jr. has rejected giving WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao a 50-50 revenue split for a proposed May 5th fight at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Apparently, Mayweather contacted ESPN and told them he informed Pacquiao he can’t get a 50-50 split but that he can get “More money fighting me than you have made in your career.”
Mayweather went on to tell Pacquiao that he needs to convince his promoter Bob Arum to make the fight happen on May 5th.

Can someone explain this to me?

Isn't Pacquiao more popular than Mayweather? 50-50 split sounds good.
