I have several problems with him: He's stupid. McCain graduated from the Naval Academy in June 1958; he was fifth from the bottom in class rank, 894th out of 899! He was a horrendously poor soldier. During his relative short stunt on flight status, McCain III lost five U.S. Navy aircraft, four in accidents and one in combat. He chose comfort over his country. After being periodically slapped around for "three or four days" by his captors who wanted military information, McCain called for an officer on his fourth day of captivity. He told the officer, "O.K., I'll give you military information if you will take me to the hospital." -U.S. News and World Report, May 14, 1973 article written by former POW John McCain. "Demands for military information were accompanied by threats to terminate my medical treatment if I [McCain] did not cooperate. Eventually, I gave them my ship's name and squadron number, and confirmed that my target had been the power plant." Page 193-194, Faith of My Fathers by John McCain. I can't really think of anyone LESS qualified to be Commander in Chief. Not even Palin.
And Obama has finished first in the Naval Academy and that makes him more qualified. hahah Nice try Maris.
I don't hold it against someone for being a poor student. There's LOTS of reasons why someone doesn't do well in school. Being a good student is just evidence that someone has the ability to be a good student. Nothing more, nothing less. I agree that he may have been the worst pilot in Navy history, and that he gets far too much credit for his behavior as a POW. I think there are plenty of reasons to vote against McCain, but those wouldn't be high on my list. One reason is that he has lost all control of his campaign, and it is being completely run by the Bush/Cheney political machine.
