looks like the celtics were very close to sending walter to phoenix, for a second round pick i guess. http://prosportsdaily.com/nba/celtics/rumors.html
Word is, it's a 2nd round pick: Waltah To PHX? Looks like Waltah asked for Dannyboy to explore trades.
Well, the good news is that even if this deal does go down, they can still give away all those McCarty bobble-heads this Friday. I like this deal. I've never been the biggest Walter fan but this gives him a chance to play, clears one more roster spot and saves the Celtics some money. Helps everyone.
At first when I saw this I thought why would the Suns want another guard/forward on their team after acquiring Jim Jackson? Then it came to me that the Suns would want another locker room presence on a young team. Plus he isn't a bad three-point shooter for us, and should fit nicely into the Suns system. Overall I think it is a good deal for both teams, the Suns get another locker room guy along with Nash and Jackson. As for the Celts they get a younger team after getting a second round pick.
This is a good thing for him. He would get more time and show what he is made of. I like him alot. Nice player to have on the bench.

So with him, they'll be able to cut down Marion and Amare's minutes a little . For the Celtics, it'sall about oppurtunity. They want Al Jefferson and Perkins to get PT, so they need to take away someones minutes, and that someone is Walter McCarty. I guess this leaves Paul Pierce and Blount as the only players left from the Pre-Ainge Era(I think).
<div class="quote_poster">Quoting FooDoggg3xB:</div><div class="quote_post">Suns need another big man too... maybe he'll step up if they pick him up</div> He won't. Walter isn't one to get down in the paint and bang bodies with anyone. When he's playing the four, the Celtics pretty much have one guy on the boards. Waltah's a terrific three-point shooter and a great energy guy, but if you're looking for some rebounding help you're gonna have to look elsewhere.
McCarty to the Suns would not be a surprise.. who are they going to get as well.. Donyell Marshall? hahahaha oh well they love them 3's
i believe walt would be a great addition to the suns. I believe he would add depth to the suns roster and also create more problems for opposing teams with his ability to play the three four and step behind the arc. I only hope that with walter that the celts analyst that always says, Way to go Walter," is involved in this package also.
Well, from what I hear, the Suns/Walta deal is "off the table" for now. For what it's worth, I couldn't possibly care less about sending Walta away. I'd much rather see Justin Reed getting his minutes. The fact that he thinks so much of his playing abilities (basically 3-pt. shooting), and so little of his glaring weaknesses (rebounding, defense, inside play, empty eagerness), that he actually demanded a trade because he's not getting enough playing time is pathetic. Let him go. He's already overpaid as it is, so if we can ship him off to any willing party, I'd be more than happy.
It'll be interesting to see if he helped his cause with his play against Phoenix last night. I think it was the most minutes he has played in a couple weeks, so you have to figure the Celtics were looking to showcase him.
