Howdy, Danielle McCray has found herself enjoying new things while rehabbing her knee. “Before, I hated running on a treadmill,” McCray said prior to Friday’s Connecticut Sun game. “Now, running long distance is something that I like doing.” McCray tore the anterior cruciate ligament in her left knee during a Feb. 4 practice with the Kansas Jayhawks. She is four-and-a-half months into her rehabilitation, which she’s been doing five days a week back at the university. “Right now, I’m back doing everything,” McCray said. “Just no contact. I can do shooting drills. Sprints. I’m progressing in my jumps every day. ... In about sixth months, I’ll be cleared (Aug. 5).” Connecticut was willing to draft McCray despite her injury. They selected her seventh overall in April with the pick they acquired from the Tulsa Shock for Chante Black and Amber Holt. McCray was projected as a top-five pick prior to getting hurt. McCray, a 5-foot-11 guard, averaged a team-high 19.8 points her senior season at Kansas and finished third all-time with 1,934 points. http://www.theday.com/article/20100626/INTERACT010107/100629774/-1/SPORT
