    Checking the LeBron rumors

McGraw rejects the rumor, but I don't think he goes strong enough. Vescey's rumor was that Ferry resigned because Leborn wanted Izzo and he didn't. That's the most inane thing I've ever heard. If hiring a coach will allow you to retain the best player in the league, you make the move. I cannot, cannot believe that Ferry would side with a coaching decision over retaining the franchise player.

You know what makes a GM resign? An owner's demand that he hire a college coach with no NBA experience for way too much money. That's what makes a GM resign.

Absolutely agreed. Indeed, we used the same word "desperation," except he didn't spell it with a typo.

This seems to make sense. A player would demand Phil Jackson, or Jerry Sloan, or Gregg Popovic. Maybe even Don Nelson. They don't demand assistant coaches with no head coaching experience.

Vescey didn't discuss whether Ferry wanted Izzo or not. All he said was Ferry wanted to keep Brown. http://www.nypost.com/p/sports/knicks/three_more_years_dWpdDZDwQLtH8e8MUDbtlL

I do think the Clippers angle in the story is a lot more interesting than Vescey's report of the belief of a "appreciably well-wired roundball entrepreneur".
