Damn, now I wish I would have paid the $60 bucks to watch it on PPV. It went the full 5 rounds and sounds like it was a great fight. Very close. McGregor wins based on points. I bet this decision could be controversial. I wonder if Conor will drop and weight and try to go back to dominating lighter weight classes.
Went down to the last minute from what I heard. Unfortunately, McGregor's ego will now reach Kanye level proportions in the next six months. When are us boxing fans going to get to see Gennedy-Canelo? Fucking never.
Great fight. Very close. Two judges scored it three rounds to two, one judge saw it as a draw. McGregor has suggested a rubber match. The UFC set their own PPV record with the previous fight. Set a record for purse tonight. For sure they will be interested in doing this again.
I think he won the fight but turning has back and running away was a bad look for someone who thinks he's King Shit.
CM was smart to make Diaz chase him. By doing this it really hampered Diaz' 'punches in bunches' that he and his brother are notorious for. Conor's counterpunches were on point. You see how bloody Diaz was? A majority of that damage came directly from the counterpunches.
Conor wanted to avoid going to the ground with Diaz, who has a superior ground game, so he had to keep his distance. Distance management is one of the keys to fighting. Conor is a better stand up striker though and landed several wicked blows. Nate is really tough to be able to withstand those punches. If Conor were fighting a guy at a lower weight level, he probably would have knocked them out in the 1st round. I think Conor wants to go back to 155.
Yeah probably won't see a fight between the two for another 7-9 months i bet, so that puts us at March-May. ..... ST PATRICKS DAY LW DEBUT
Reports coming out that Conor actually broke his foot in the fight. I wonder what round that occurred in? He must have been running on adrenaline.
I bet it was tail end of 2nd rd looked like all his movement was dead from where he was and I doubt he was gassed as he had been so efficient.
Just got to watch the whole fight. I think Conor won rounds 1,2,4. Nate won the 3rd and the 5th was a wash. But Conor is such an incredible boxer, he looks like he toys with his opponents at times. A smaller opponent would have been knocked out much sooner. Diaz is an animal, he took so many face strikes and kept going.
