Wow that's a good comparison; but I think I disagree. The only reason is Hardaway is bulkier and stronger at the rim. They both have the same "range" and drive to win ballgames. I just think the drive game is much different. Lillard is more tricky in the paint and Hardaway would take contact and finish strong.

Hardaway played more uptempo than Lillard in my opinion.

Yeah I don't see the comparison either. Both are/were very strong and quick, but their styles were different. Hardaway was 6' with not much vertical leap.

If we're talking that era, KJ is closer. Except that Lillard doesn't have that deadly pull-up.

I haven't seen much of Tim H's ankle breaking crossover from Lil's yet.

    Not seeing the similarity.

Did not see him play, but the numbers and description of Dave Bing sound like DL.

There's something a little screwy about the bits in bold ...

My memories of Tim H are a little fuzzy with time, but minus the bulk difference, I do think Lillard has a little bit in common with him in terms of the way he looks to score first, but can still distribute competently.

I second the KJ comparison, although Lillard is taller than KJ, too, and is not yet as good of a passer.

I see some similarities but Bing looks like he had a great mid-range (Im sure due to the lack of the 3 ball) and seems like he could post and rise up over people. I never got to see him play. They are very similiar in height and build.

    KJ is the closest comparison.

I like the KJ comparisons. But the more I see of Lillard and try compare him to someone else the more he really is his own unique player.

The characteristic that comes to mind when talking about DL's game with me is how in control he is and how well he shoots the ball. With Hardaway, I remember the flash and him occasionally getting hot from outside. With Kevin Johnson, I remember his speed and not his shooting from distance.

I did not see Bing play and of the 50 top point guard list I was looking at, his description matched best for me. As Boise Believer said, the more I see of him the more unique I think he is.

I wonder whether McHale meant that their faces look alike, because I think that's true.
