NASHVILLE, TN, Feb. 7, 2006 ? Titans quarterback Steve McNair was added Tuesday to the AFC Pro Bowl roster. He replaces Denver QB Jake Plummer, who will not play in the game due to injury. ?It?s a great opportunity to be part of the Pro Bowl,? McNair said. ?Anytime you get a chance to compete against the best in the NFL, it is certainly something you look forward to.? This is the third time in McNair?s career that he has been named to the Pro Bowl. He made the team following the 2000 season but did not play due to injury, and he was voted the AFC starter at the conclusion of the 2003 season. In 2005, McNair?s 11th NFL season, he started 14 games and passed for 3,161 yards, the fifth-highest total of his career. He completed 292 of 476 passes with 16 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. McNair also reached notable milestones in 2005. He became the second quarterback in franchise history to reach 25,000 career passing yards, joining recent Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee Warren Moon, and he became the third player in team history behind Moon and George Blanda to reach 150 career touchdown passes. With 3,439 career rushing yards, McNair surpassed John Elway for fourth place in NFL history in rushing yards by a quarterback. McNair is the second member of the Titans to be added to the Pro Bowl roster since the season ended. Defensive end Kyle Vanden Bosch was named to the squad to replace an injured Jason Taylor. McNair is scheduled to join the rest of his AFC teammates in Honolulu, Hawaii, by Wednesday. The game will be played Sunday at 5 p.m. (CST).
So the guy is the 5th best QB in the AFC and hes allowed to go?I didnt think he had all that great of a season, but congradulations to him.
yep,I guess he was runner up out of respect because they thought he was retiring? Got me lol.Good to see two Titans there though
Bet old man can still outrun big ben Mcnair hops around the field on one leg and still manages to escape and outrun defenders.
Probably ain't the way he wanted to go to the Pro Bowl, but whatever. He was the highest rated remaining passer of the AFC QBs who isn't hurt, resting an injury, or missed a bunch of games because of injury.I actually just made a post about this very subject on the TOMBAFC QBs sorted by passer rating:1 Peyton Manning IND #12 Carson Palmer CIN injured3 Ben Roethlisberger PIT not playing4 Tom Brady NE not playing5 Jake Plummer DEN not playing6 Trent Green KC #27 Byron Leftwich JAC played in only 11 games8 Drew Brees SD injured9 Kelly Holcomb played in only 10 games10 Steve McNair - #3missed one game due to injury, missed the Jags game because it meant nothing
