This is a good summary of Anthony's attributes and skills, and how he gets them, which is from hard work and good coaching.

"He's so aggressive. He's relentless. You don't know who to put on him."
    By Marc J. Spears

Carmelo Anthony has worked to improve his mid-range jumper, but his field-goal percentage at that range is 35.22, below the league average. (Post / John Leyba)Las Vegas - Imagine being the guy stuck with the assignment of guarding Carmelo Anthony.

At 22, the Nuggets forward will make an appearance in his first All-Star Game on Sunday in Las on the strength of his league-leading scoring average (30.7).

"Carmelo is a real load," Miami coach Pat Riley said. "In a one-on-one situation he's virtually unstoppable. He's either going to get fouled or dunk on you."

The 6-foot-8, fourth-year pro has blended his exceptional physical gifts, an unusual combination of size, speed and quickness, with an ever-improving jump shot to put himself in position to become the first Nuggets player to average 30 or more points in a season.

"He's part of the new-age player, a small forward who can really handle (the ball) like a point guard," Pistons point guard Chauncey Billups said.

So, how did Anthony improve on his already stellar game to become the league's top scoring threat?

"Why are you trying to tell everybody my stuff, man?" Anthony said jokingly.

To find out more, the Post interviewed numerous NBA coaches, players and executives.

When one asks about Anthony's improvement, the first person often mentioned among the Nuggets is Tim Grgurich, who does not talk to the media.

The Nuggets assistant coach works with Anthony after every morning shootaround, watching every replay of every possession Anthony had from his previous game, regardless of whether he makes an offensive move or not. Then he works with Anthony on specific moves.

"What happens to a lot of guys is they make it to the NBA and that is it," Nuggets vice president of player personnel Rex Chapman said. "Grg has a way of getting through to guys to make them believe that you need to get better and shows how they can get better."

One of the areas Anthony has worked on is his jump shot. In his first three NBA seasons, the big knock on Anthony's offensive game was his unreliable jumper. In past years, defenses would sag back to guard against his drives and allow him to shoot over them, a shot Anthony was content to take.

I heard it's illegal to post a whle article or something like that, just a tip for next time.

Melo's size. quickness and power is what makes him so difficult to guard IMO. He can play you inside or out because he is so versatile. He is easily a top 5 offensive player in the league.

I think its his strength and quickness, his shooting has room for improvement imo, but he seems to attack hard which is good.

Ofcourse strength, great first step & quickness, good shot and he is quite big for a guy who has such a good quickness and moves and dribbling (SF).

Overall, his shooting percentage is above his career average this season (.475) but his 3-point shot is down this season from his career average.

    Melo:
    3-pointers career: 168-613: .274
    3-pointers 06-07 season: 20-89: .224

    Compare to J.R. Smith:

    3-pointers career: 247/711: .347
    3-pointers 06-07 season: 114/290: .393
