As some of you know, our family volunteers every year to run the Silent Auction at the The NEWBERRY EVENT Music & Arts Festival a Defeat MS fundraiser. One of the biggest rewards for our commitment has been meeting and becoming good friends with some incredible musicians from all over the world. Chief amongst them is the incredible singer/songwriter Melody Guy. Melody has a home in Nashville, the songwriting capitol of the world, but spends most of the year travelling across the states and back, living alone in her van, playing concerts and festivals everywhere she lands. She plays house concerts along the way whenever her friends can get a group of fans together to help pay her gas and van repairs. A couple weekends ago we hosted her in our home and I thought some of you would like to hear her music so here it is. ps Melody plays in Portland quite often and sometimes hangs around the area for awhile. Most professional musicians in Portland and across the country know her well and often are on the bill with her, so check her out. https://melodyguy.com/ https://www.facebook.com/melodyguymusic https://www.reverbnation.com/melodyguy https://melodyguy.bandcamp.com/
I listened to Diamond on the Street and it was goooood. Say, who's that guy with the beard in the background of your link? You know, the guy covering the camera with his hand. Is that you? Is that your house? I think Melody would be perfect at the White Eagle. I haven't been to the White Eagle in about 25 years but I'm guessing it's pretty much the same. I was there about 50 years ago and it didn't seem to change in those 25 years except they never used to charge a cover charge and last time I was there, they did.
That's my youngest son, who lives with us and who organized the concert. We're thinking of maybe having a larger concert next summer outside, with a couple more musicians.
You should try recruiting HomerLovesKoolAde who is a somewhat renowned drummer. He's also fair on the guitar.
