Its a AWESOME event in Memphis. It pretty much starts this weekend with the music fest. Throughout it, theres tons of artists, ALOTVE food(including the world famous BBQ cookoff, you can watch it on the Food Channel), and we celebrate a country every year. This year is Spain, so there will be alotve Spanish themed stuff around Memphis soon. Theres always an offical poster that has the M-n-May countries(this year is Spain) theme. As soon as I can find it, ill post it. Its somewhat a big thing, it can be very valuable if you get the artist to sign it. I have about 4 previous ones. Not only is there Memphis in May in itself, but Beale Street is filled with parades and parties, as well as parties throughout other parts of Memphis. Its pretty awesome and is one of the highlights of Memphis music and food. Some of the artists are:The Allman Brothers BandIggy & The Stooges Three 6 MafiaKoko TaylorSum 41 Gov't MuleSocial DistortionRichard JohnstonSharde Thomas and The Rising Star Fife and Drum Band Robert "Wolfman" Belfour The Red Jumpsuit ApparatusJerry Lee LewisChevelleHubert Sumlin & Willie Big Eyes SmithPlain White T'sThe Derek Trucks BandNorth Mississippi AllstarsPopa ChubbySteely DanGodsmackGeorge ThorogoodBobby "Blue" BlandThe Bar-KaysWolfmotherThe Ohio PlayersWalter Trout &The RadicalsKenny Wayne ShephardTaking Back SundayTaj MahalRyan ShawKelley HuntOld Crow Medicine ShowJack's MannequinThe John Butler TrioKeller Williams Alvin Youngblood HartEddie FloydOne Less ReasonThe DuhksDaddy Mack Blues BandHawthorne HeightsDavid Honeyboy EdwardsKeller Williams Counting Crows John Legend Hinder Elvin Bishop Barenaked Ladies Corinne Bailey Rae DAUGHTRY Tab Benoit GusterEdwin McCain Project Pat Backdoor Slam Umphrey's McGee Ann Peebles Papa Roach Watermelon Slim Billy Lee RileyEgypt Central The Lee Boys I dont like rock music much, but I do like Godsmack and Chevelle...alot. So im pretty excited about this year. I CANT FREAKING WAIT!!!!!!And whats even better is, these bands dont just play one or two songs. Just about every one play an entire concert almost, each plays about 7 or 8 songs. This goes on all day and night long....all weekend, sometimes several bands are playing at the same time....of course in different areas though. If you ever come near Memphis around this time, you HAVE to check it out.
That list is stacked. So many great bands I would love to see. The only one on that list I've seen is Derek Trucks. He is the guitarist for Clapton now. Dude can fu*kin jam
