Memphis coach Josh Pastner had no problem with the foul call, even if it meant his Tigers might be headed for overtime.

UTEP's C.J. Cooper had an opportunity to tie the game after being fouled from beyond the 3-point line with seconds left. He missed the first free throw, then made the second. He purposely missed the third in an attempt to rebound the ball and get the win but Memphis' Tarik Black was fouled getting the rebound.

It was Black who set the stage for the possible tie.

"We tried to defend them, we had a good defense but Tarik did foul him and it was a good foul that was called by the official," Pastner said. "It just happened (Cooper) missed a couple free throws and we had a chance to win the game. Basketball is just a crazy game, but it's a beautiful game."

The win kept the Tigers (26-4, 15-0 CUSA) unbeaten in Conference USA.
