DraftExpress - Memphis Sophomore Point Guard Darius Washington told DraftExpress columnist Mike Schmidt that he will be entering his name in the 2006 NBA draft.

Washington told us recently that should he enter the draft, it would be "for good".
Washington is yet another in a long line of underclassmen considered bubble first rounders to enter their name in this year's draft. As of today, 40 underclassmen have already entered their names in, with many more still expected. In 2004, only 31 underclassmen entered the draft. In 2005, 49 entered. In both years, the number of marginal junior prospects from low-major schools looking solely for attention was considerably higher, though. [READ]</div>

Commercial Appeal - Shawne Williams plans to make himself eligible for the NBA Draft but will not immediately hire an agent, Williams’ grandfather told The Commercial Appeal today.

"He’s torn on the decision because he enjoys school, but the (financial) needs overshadow everything else," said Leon Williams, who helped raise Shawne. "The time is right if he can get the money and get a good contract." [READ]</div>

Damn the flood gates just opened up with all these underclassmen declaring these past two weeks. This draft is going to be very intriguing if they all decide to stay. I can't wait for the predraft camps to get started.

They both look to be promising young player but I think they should stay. Especially Williams, however they may be lottery picks.

I'm thinking the same thing. I didn't expect Shawne Williams to enter the draft at all, he could have had a much bigger role at Memphis next year and his game would benefit alot from it.

So far the last few weeks we've had Shawne Williams, Shannon Brown, Daniel Gibson, Yi Jianlian, Marcus Williams (AZ), Sergio Rodriguez, Cedric Simmons, Rajon Rondo, Jordan Farmar, and Aaron Aflalo all declare for the draft rather unexpectedly. It should make for the depth and/or quality of the draft to be alot better.

Yi isnt in the draft anymore and I dont think both Farmar and Afflalo will stay in the draft, from what I know neither has signed an agent yet.

Darius and Shawne should've stayed longer at Memphis they could've been legit contenders next year for the nation championship.

In my opinion I think Washington should have stayed at least 1 more year,I'm not saying he's not a good player but I think it would have made him a better player

This draft has quickly become pretty deep with all these under classmen declaring. Some team is going to get really lucky, and find themselves a couple diamonds in the rough, in the late first-early second rounds. Dee Brown, Darius Washington, and Kyle Lowry are steals for whatever team ends up drafting them.
