Is Nazr's contract (6M per year for the next three years, I believe) really that big of a deal breaker when you're talking about getting a stud like Gerald Wallace? I know ya'll are high on Batum, and so am I, but is he even going to PLAY if we land Wallace?

I mean, I'm actually wondering. IS 6M per too high? Does Batum play?

Apparently unless Cleveland calls and offers Lebron for Freeland and a second round pick KP thinks it's too much

That is what I have been saying. It your wettest dreams Batum turns out as good as Wallace. Do the sure thing.

I'd take on Nazr to be honest, but it's not my money.

Re: The Nazr Mohammed / Nicolas Batum question

I thought it was an either/or? Either give up Batum OR take Nazr? Was I mistaken?

Yes, keeping Batum is worth 18M to Nazr over 3 years for me.

Someone has gone off the deep end...

The world isn't ending if we don't make a trade. There is no proof of what KP turned down, but people are picking a choosing what rumors they want to believe.

Nazr has two more years after this season at $6-7 mil per. If PA doesn't want to pay him, then can't fault him.

What happens if the Blazers trade for Wallace and don't make the playoffs? What then?

I think the Blazers will make the playoffs regardless, but I'm sure that question hasn't ran through your mind.

We need more information. We don't know if Charlotte wants us to take the Mohamed contract AND give them Batum, or if they just want one or the other. We don't know if they would take our 2009 first round draft pick instead pf Batum. I actually like Batum more than Bayless or Rudy, but I'm guessing so does Larry Brown.

6 to 7 mill a year for a player slot is nothing. Veterans exception is that much for players who have been in the league long enough for most vets.

I disagree. I think the Blazers still get in w/o a trade.

Re: The Nazr Mohammed / Nicolas Batum question

That is what I recall reading, as well.

I agree. Batum's going to be a heck of a player, and he can join Bayless on the "Young Studs Who Get No PT" for a year or two. Nazr can hold down the Ike/Ruffin spot.

Re: The Nazr Mohammed / Nicolas Batum question

We don't know what the real deal is/was.

Batum is one of the only young players who I've seen who:

-likes to play defense (and actually can)
    -has a very solid handle
-can drive to hoop and finish (and knows when too, although he could more often)
    -can hit the open three
    -has no fear of vets

Wallace is better now, Batum could be like Wallace with a better three ball. I just don't think I would want to go up against Batum in a few years.

Also, what would I do with my nice Batum jersey I got for Christmas?

How can Wallace be the sure thing when the only thing you are sure of is that he is going to go down with an injury every year?

In 8 years he has played 70 or more games only twice...

I agree. I'd definitely be quite surprised if the Blazers don't make the playoffs even without making another move.

Re: The Nazr Mohammed / Nicolas Batum question

At that point you would have to blame the system more then the players. If you can't get a team with B-Roy, Wallace, LA, Rudy, Oden and Joel to the playoffs then you aren't very good. So, you would kick Nate to the curb.

Due to their recent downturn I would have to downgrade Portland's playoff chances from 95% to about 50%. They just haven't looked good at all of late. Maybe they will turn it around no matter what happens today.

We won't have to because you'll be incessantly reminding us about it with at least four threads a week about it all fucking summer.

Besides, Houston or Utah aren't getting in. We're getting in.
