Seriously, why the f'k is he in Indiana? I don't care if he can play or not he needs to be here. He needs to be watching and learning. Camby could be a valuable teacher to him. Someone who has also had a lot of injuries but who still brings it night after night. The big goofy act is really wearing on me. Last week was the first airing of the Greg Oden Show on 95.5. He showed up a hour late. This is very own radio show. He claims he took a taxi to the Rose Garden because that's where he thought The Fan was broadcast from. Are you kidding me? So in other words he did zero preparation for his radio show. Didn't show up in advance, didn't learn how to use the equipment, didn't do anything even close to what a normal person would do to prepare for a new (even if it's only part time) job. I'm not going to whine and cry about how we should have drafted Durant. Nothing, absolutely nothing is gained from that. But I am growing more and more disappointed and discouraged by his apparent lack of dedication and desire. Oden needs to start acting like he gives a f'ck.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? FWIW... http://www.blazersedge.com/2010/4/7/1409679/greg-oden-talks-rehab-summer
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? I was kind of wondering that too, especially after I saw Blake Griffin on the bench with the Clips last night.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? He's just visiting his family. Not a big deal. However, what IS annoying is the very few updates on his progress. How will this injury affect his mobility/explosiveness? His legs seem to be made of putty, what is causing this? We've heard very little on anything about his injury, in the short-term or long-term. It's fucking annoying.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? Well, that was somewhat depressing. Can't the guy even splurge for NBA League Pass and watch a fucking game? Maybe the Pritchard/Penn mess is coming into focus for me now after reading that bullshit interview.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? I am quite dubious of this as well. Just as an aside, this is what Roy said to Outlaw yesterday after the game: “Why weren’t you on the bench?” Roy wondered (Travis was, though he was difficult to see). “You gotta support your team man! Support your team!” I suppose he was partially joking, but it makes one wonder how the rest of the team feels about GO not being in the locker room.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? During the regular season and as long as the team is in the playoffs the Blazers are his family. I didn't get all jacked out of shape like many did when Oden spent a big part of last off season at Ohio State. It's the off season. That's different. But during the regular season, even injured he gets paid. He needs to be here.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? I couldn't care less about the so-called "radio show" he does on Wheel's afternoon drive program, and if he wants to spend a couple of weeks in Indiana because he can't do much on his (still) gimpy leg then I don't much care about that either. All I want to see is a healthy Greg Oden ready for training camp ... whatever happens between now and that date doesn't really matter to me.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? I don't believe that for a second ... the Blazers team is his employer and teammates are his co-workers. If his employer is OK with him rehabbing near his real family then what's the big deal?
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? I think Oden should be in Portland rehabbing his fucking knee. He's a supposed pillar of this franchise, not some scrub that nobody has invested in for the future. If he wants to be in Indy, great, but at least put forth the effort to watch a fucking game once in awhile.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? ^ Ditto. (To Nik & Minstrel) Man, it seems to me that there's no bit of Blazer news that somebody can't put a negative spin to around here.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? I require outrage that Joel is back in Milwaukee again according to reports. Please begin outrage.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? What, are the Blazers going to force him to stay in Portland? It's more about Oden's decision than it is the organization's demands, IMO, and I'm starting to see why Pritchard is feeling the heat while Oden is playing XBox in Indy.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? So is Portland air better for his knee or something and what does him watching games on TV have to do with anything? Should he be sending out "good vibes" and offering up prayers to help sway the outcome? There is nothing (nada, zip, zero, zilch) that Greg can do to affect games this season, but if being near his mom and doing his rehab in the comfort of his off-season home helps him get closer to being ready come September then I will assume that he's doing what he needs to do and is doing it with the blessing of the organization.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? Because there is no guarantees that Camby will be here next season. While Oden may not be able to play with or practice against Camby there is just a ton he can learn from him just through observation. Also it shouldn't have to come from his employer what is OK or not OK. It should come from him. Again, I don't have a problem with what he does during the off season. In the off season even if he is out of town the coaching staff (Bayno) and the medical staff can still give him help, instruction and advice. Now that is next to impossible and takes away from the needs of the players who are actually playing.
Re: Why is Oden in Indiana? Let's say for the sake of argument he really can't watch the games in Indiana. Why aren't the Blazers sending him game tapes to watch? I understand it's purely academic since he isn't going to play this year, but why not send him tape anyways?
