Even before the injuries to their defensive line they weren't going to the playoffs because they don't have the CBs to play the defense they need to play. The additions of Jevon Kearse and Terrell Owens aren't going to be enough for them to win. Kearse won't get three sacks per game and once opposing teams start game planning against him he won't be that big a factor. Owens is a great receiver, but he's not a guy who can control or change the game. He can impact the game with his play, but he's only going to touch it a limited amount of times. You can't build an offense around a receiver. this guys an idiot. first of all, no1 is asking kearse for 3sacks a game, second, teams have always been gameplanning against him. TO will be fine, its not his touches that matter, its the one on one coverage he gives brian westbrook and pinky and freddie and LJ that matters more. our CBs are fine with a great FS and a good SS to help them, and a good pressurable DL. 2 years ago this DL had 56 sacks that led the league, they lost hugh and sucked. now they added kearse who was better than hugh, and brought back hugh. ND kaul and his 5 sacks wont matter. how could the additions of Freak and TO not be enough? they were the top 2 FAs available. merrill hoge is an absolute dope. he had cancer, i feel bad and all its great he beat it, but still hes sooooooooooooooooooooo damn stupid. i cant believe what he said. i know most of u will agree, but i hope most of dont agree with stupid assinine comments like that.
I tend to agree with him. I think it's the glass is half full / half empty theory. You look at the changes as good and that the Eagles will be better with their new personel. (Half full) Merrill has the half empty theory. I think he's more right. But only time will tell. It's not like you will know until it plays out.
Honestly. To think that all of a sudden Washington will be a better team then PHilly just cause they got Joe Gibbs is just clueless. I am sure Joe is still a great coach, but that team just has subpar talent at almost every position. Merril Hoge is a dope, I watch him week in and week out and he makes these outrageous claims, and I am sure every once in a while he is right. If you throw enough shit at the wall, some of it will stick. Horrible, just plain horrible.
i dont see why people think that just cause a team getsa new coach, theyre gonna be SB contenders, of course its possible, but now in one year. i mean im sure Gibbs is a good coach, but cmon, hes not gonna put em in the playoffs this year.

That's the only part I don't agree with. I think Philly is still the best team in the East, but I don't think they're better this year than last.
i'd say only a few coachs in the NFL could have an impact like that, Parcells, Belichick, dare i say Edwards who rallied the Jets from a 2-5 season to 9-7 and 2nd round of playoffs. Every coach could make a huge impact. Hoge i think he is better than most guys. i personally dont think the eagles will make the Superbowl this year definatly the playoffs though.

hoge predicted a giants super bowl appearance last year GF1, i forget the other team he said but they sucked to. and the giants have been a favortie with the eagles the past 5 years, its just last year they sucked and now people think they are rubuilding that shut u up
they were supposed to be the eagles biggest threat last year, rember no1 expected the cowboys to be that good last year, they all said 7-9, but the giants could easily challenge the eagles. ur mixin ur stuff up
