I knew something was up, he came out of nowhere during the draft, and he was a beast from the start. so that's why I had a feeling he was being a hoe lol.....I lost all my respect for him, he's a dirty cheater

He was a 1st round pick and an elite linebacker at Maryland. In my Sporting News Draft magazine he was the #1 rated linebacker in the 2005 draft. So let's make it clear, he didn't come out of nowhere. Let's also make it clear he passed all his combine drug tests as well as his rookie drug tests (He was ROY, had an amazing season). Let's also bring into the conversation Luis Castillo, he was drafted with Merriman last season. He failed a steriod test at the combine and now he's an elite DE. We have all forgotten/forgiven him. Let's not throw Merriman under the bus. He made a mistake, a very bad mistake but he will come back from this and be an elite player for the next 10 years. Lots of players make terrible mistakes and they grow from it. Merriman has always been a class act in San Diego and a good guy, this is the only mistake he's really made the last 6 years. Shawne Merriman has always played 100% and with passion few play with. His motor never stops, add to the fact that he's 6'4" 265 pounds, he's obviously going to role heads. People give steriods way too much credit, sure they helped him but he was and will be an elite player without them.

Huh? Shawne Merriman passed his combine/rookie drug tests. Your giving steriods too much credit, he would still be a great player without them. He made a mistake and he will pay for it the next few years until people move on and let it go. He's 22 years old and has a world of potential.
The problem with saying that he passed rookie steroid tests is that there's always new steroids being developed. Even if he passed a test, that doesn't mean he didn't take any.
