<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>NEW YORK ? Marlins President David Samson and General Manager Larry Beinfest could not have been pleased at what they observed from the Shea Stadium visitors' dugout Tuesday. While the Mets were taking batting practice and the Marlins were stretching, Mets General Manager Omar Minaya engaged third baseman Miguel Cabrera in about a 10-minute conversation.LocalLinksPer Major League Baseball directive, it was tampering. Was Minaya recruiting Cabrera, a free agent after the 2009 season? Of course not, but the subject matter is irrelevant.MLB prohibits fraternizing among players when they are in uniform. It happens anyway, but rarely do you see front office personnel conversing with opposing players save for cursory greetings.Minaya is one of the more congenial baseball people around. He's a fixture on the field during batting practice, and the Mets said it's not unusual to see him chatting up players on both sides. Monday, he spent part of the pregame visiting with Beinfest and manager Fredi Gonzalez, and even sat for a while in the Marlins dugout with owner Jeffrey Loria.Beinfest and Minaya have enjoyed a productive business relationship. Two offseasons ago they struck two separate deals involving Carlos Delgado and Paul Lo Duca. This last offseason the Marlins acquired relievers Henry Owens and Matt Lindstrom from the Mets for Jason Vargas and Adam Bostick.Though it was apparent the Minaya-Cabrera chat did not escape their notice, neither Samson nor Beinfest would comment on it.</div>http://www.sun-sentinel.com/sports/basebal...-sports-marlinsWe should expect it out of such a classless organization. Something that happens every single day. Baseball is a fraternity and players and front office personnel talk to each other all the time. It's obvious it wasn't a recruiting effort as the Mets already have David Wright.

First they hire fans to blind opposing players and now on the field recruiting? That's a new low, even for the Mets. Next thing you know, Mr. Met is going to be driving a golf cart into the bullpen, injury all the potential relief pitchers on "accident."

Get over it.At least Giambi apologized and cleaned up. And who was on 'roids in the dynasty? Chuck Knoblauch and David Cone shooting up, with Jeter drinking amphetamines out of the leaded coffee pot?

They have fans who run onto the field and attack coaches and umpires. They have a manager who thinks that winning the World Series makes him an automatic success and lets him do what he wants. He orders his pitchers to hit other players. He calls a writer a fag and is allowed to keep his gig b/c the front office hates the writer also. To me, the White Sox are way more classless. And oh, yeah, 1919

And the major players in our wins were definitely not on the stuff. And on the Maier thing, I looked it up, we won that Series 4-1 anyway. Not like it was a deciding factor.
