http://sports.yahoo.com/mlb/news?slug=ge-lowemets122308&prov=yhoo&type=lgns Lowe was GREAT for the Sox in their world series run a few years back. He never misses a start. He would do fine in New York. This would be a solid pickup if they can get a deal done before someone else swoops in.
http://www.boston.com/sports/baseball/redsox/extras/extra_bases/ Other sites are saying it's not that close, but the Mets are certainly the leaders for those that want to sign him. Is it just me or are a lot of these pitchers getting one more year than they should on their free agent deals? If they were to sign Lowe, it would set up their rotation well with Santanna, Pelfrey and Maine, although they would still need to sign one more guy (probably Randy Wolf?).
http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/01/lowe-rejected-o.html I still don't think the Mets are out of it yet. Minaya needs to sign not one but two starting pitchers (unless they are just going to give the number five spot in the rotation to Jon Niese, which I doubt). So they'll need to move fast. Interesting that they aren't talking about Perez at all.
lowe to the mets makes sense, but he should really go after the most money, he needs to continue to set the bar high.
