The Miami Marlins have released former All-Star infielder Miguel Tejada.

Assigned to Double-A Jacksonville, Tejada totaled 14 at-bats over four games (May 31-June 4) before going on the disabled list with a right shoulder injury.

Tejada, 40, told ESPN Deportes he planned on playing winter ball in his native Dominican Republic during the offseason and determine thereafter whether to pursue another major league job in 2015. Tejada will play for Marlins’ Double-A manager Andy Barkett, who is managing the Águilas Cibaeñas.
