http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/sport...ll/12719192.htm Miami could be as much as 25 million under the cap for next offseason. Most of that is Jason Taylor & Tebucky Jones. Drew Brees come on down to Miami. After reading this, Nick Saban would be the ideal candidate to run the Congressional budget office
It's only week 2 but Saban looks like the right guy for the team. I think he'll get the team going soon enough.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (MKIV_Supra)</div><div class='quotemain'>First Junior Seau, can't you guys leech off someone else?</div> Junior & Boston if you want to be specific but SD got Jamar Fletcher. LOL.
you guys would have to do a lot of stuff to get to 25 million, i see only getting to 20 million to spend at the end of the offseason
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (panthersare#1)</div><div class='quotemain'>you guys would have to do a lot of stuff to get to 25 million, i see only getting to 20 million to spend at the end of the offseason</div> Did you not read the article? Alot of it is tied up in a few players. <div class='quotetop'>QUOTE </div><div class='quotemain'>According to NFL Players Association figures, the Dolphins have approximately $95 million in salaries and other figures committed for the 2006 season. The salary cap is projected to be approximately $90 million for 2006. While that means the Dolphins are a projected $5 million over the cap, that figure includes a number of bloated contracts that will either be cut or reworked. The most obvious is safety Tebucky Jones, who is scheduled to count $6.8 million against the salary cap next season. There also is the contract of defensive end/linebacker Jason Taylor, who currently counts for $11.3 million against the cap in 2006. Of that, $7.75 million is made up of base salary ($5.25 million) and a roster bonus ($2.5 million). By simply guaranteeing that money, which seems logical given Taylor's importance to the team, the Dolphins would save approximately $5.5 million. Put Jones and Taylor together and you have a maximum of $12 million. Then there's quarterback A.J. Feeley, who could be let go to save $2.3 million, or linebacker Junior Seau, who might retire and save the Dolphins $2.1 million.</div> Feeley will be let go there is 2.3 million. Taylor's money will be guaranteed. There is another 5.5 and with that they are roughly 3 million under for 2006.
the only problem i see with the dolphins right now is that they are building their orginaztion with veterans about to retire.
<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (panthersare#1)</div><div class='quotemain'>the only problem i see with the dolphins right now is that they are building their orginaztion with veterans about to retire.</div> Like who? Junior Seau? That's one player. I'll look around the house and see if I can't find a coupon for an optometrist for you. "I have no idea if Carolina would have beaten the Dolphins if Witherspoon and Lucas had played, Mr.Panthersare#1. I would just like you to read the top line, please. No, sir, the chart is on THIS wall."
the dolphins have the oldest defense. That D-line in 2 years will be gone from retirement. Even the announcer said that in a few years that d line will be totally gone
Matt Roth, David Bowens, Vickerson, & hopefully Manny Wright will be around to tear it up. Besides, its not like Saban isn't fully aware of this and will draft accordingly. p.s. the panthers D line is getting any younger unless they have discovered the fountain of you and that info hasn't been released to the genral public.

Buckner can be replaced and Rucker has 4 years left in him

He's good but hopefully his emotions don't get to him if he hears Jonathan Vilma call him fat or something.

He said he was overweight and out of shape coming into training camp. I just thought of the one AFC East player I could at the time from another teams. :cheesey:
I don't know why everyone is writing Jason Taylor off. I think he has several good years left in him. I think he'll still be here when the Dolphins start making some noise.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (panthersare#1)</div><div class='quotemain'>im not saying he is a bad player, he is a amazing player, but in a few years he will be retiring</div> He has plenty of time to be part of the Dolphins' return to glory. Why don't we save the retirement talk until his game shows some sign of declining? That clearly hasn't happened yet. I read the article. I'm not Saban, but I would give Jason a guaranteed contract. He's still the best defensive end in the NFL and hasn't had a serious injury. (I usually try to refrain from making such homer remarks, but if you can't brag about a player like Jason Taylor, who can you brag about?)
