<div class="quote_poster">Quote:</div><div class="quote_post">The chairs to the left of Pat Riley will be lined up at AmericanAirlines Arena the same way they have been for years. But that doesn't mean the Heat has a bench.

With plans to open with Brian Grant at center, Lamar Odom at power forward, Caron Butler at small forward, Eddie Jones at shooting guard and Dwyane Wade at point guard, the Heat essentially is going all-in with its starting lineup.
For depth there is little more than journeyman Samaki Walker, Rafer Alston and John Wallace. From this perspective, it would behoove Riley to add a veteran point guard in the vein of Rod Strickland, if only to shift Wade into a sixth-man role. Otherwise, there would appear to be precious little offense for the second unit.

Still, even that type of approach would be stopgap at best. What is needed is more talent, the type that could be delivered by a two-for-one trade.

That is why the big one still could be on the way, if not before the Sept. 30 start of training camp, then perhaps by the Oct. 28 start of the regular season.</div>

This really was the only way they could go. I don't see Odom doing well at PF, since he's so thin, but he definitely has the skills. He's going to get knocked off the block, but he has the length to still pull down some boards.
