It looks like he might be fired after a horrible loss to the Gophers. It's really a sad commentary. I thought he did a very good job this year. The Hooisers are just not good enough. I love Mike Davis. He can go coach the Gophers if he wants. I think he is good. It's a damn shame some Hooisers fans can't get over Bobby Knight. I love Knight, but it was time for Knight and Indiana to part ways. What part of that do fans not understand? I also think it's sick that Indiana bookstore sells Texas Tech gear. I am sure Davis will land on his feet, but you hate seeing a very nice guy fired after taking the Hooisers to the national championship game in Atlanta in 2002. If the Hooisers ever fire Davis, I hope they never ever win as long as I am alive and breathing.
he wont be He wont be fired..this years team looked close to an NCAA bid at points and he brought in a very good freshman class this year....he shouldnt be fired....
"The Hoosiers are just not good enough." Very true. I don't understand why athletic administrations blame a losing season on the coach. Mike Davis is not a bad coach, it is just that he can't live up the greatness of Bobby Knight. As pointed out by Timberwolf, they reached the championship in 2002. Lost that to Maryland, who was a very good team at the time. But Timberwolf makes a great point, Big Red just isn't good enough. They rely too much on that three point shot. When they don't hit their perimeter shots, they usually lose. When they do hit, you can put a check in the win column. I hope IU doesn't fire Mike Davis. There isn't a valid reason to fire him. If they do, whoever made the decision to fire him should be locked up in a straight jacket and and thrown off the top of the Sears Tower. Make him build a parachute. (Not really, but you get my point.)
