Mike Zarren has emerged as a candidate to become the next general manager of the 76ers. Zarren is currently assistant general manager of the Celtics. Philadelphia was reportedly deciding between Tom Penn and Jeff Bower, but sources say Penn's chances of getting the job have decreased. Zarren is a Harvard law graduate and a proponent of advanced statistics. Danny Ainge considers Zarren his right-hand man. The 76ers are looking for a replacement for Rod Thorn, who is transitioning to a consultancy role with the organization.
