It's a proposed trade idea from the Buecher Report (or however it's spelled). He thinks we should trade Dre for a first round pick from Atlanta.

If that's all Dre is worth, that's depressing.

Atlanta is over the cap - something will have to come back.

If the prognosis on Roy's comeback and Camby's comeback is bad - this might be the right thing to do.

They're a playoff team and it would leave this team without a starting PG.

I don't see the incentive in this idea.

Atlanta has a $3.6 million traded player exception from the Childress deal, but that's not big enough to do this trade so I don't think Bucher was thinking clearly if he talked about trading Miller just for a pick.

We could save ourselves three pages of comments about how stupid this trade idea is if we just acknowledge that's not even possible.

Understand ric bucher is to the blazers as what hcp is to mixum. hater. He's always hated the blazers. He even pumped okc over us when we were healthy. He enjoys our fall so this trade doesn't shock me at all. He despises Portland.

Isn't that where the Celtics got on Rondo in the weak draft of 2006? Add the fact that it would actually make our very own pick better...

If there is nothing better out there and the outlook for Roy/Camby is not good - making this year a waste - this is better than nothing.

What's better - playing .500 and maybe squeaking in the playoffs with the 8th seed and a high-first round pick or finishing in the lottery with possibly a top-10 pick in addition to a high-first round pick?

Sometimes taking time-off to breath and regrouping is better than slogging up the hill to finish mid-pack again and be tired again for the next try...

The 2006 draft was weak, and Portland did ok in that one....assuming you take Roy's knees out of it

I think he's talking about the Bleacher Report ... and I've never seen anybody who posts their dreck on there display anything that suggests they might have a brain.

Not to mention that the Celtics got the most important piece of their current championship run in the late 1st round of said draft.

and in the history of the NBA, what percentage of those mid-20s draft picks end up being "Rajan Rondos" and what percentage of them end up being "Dante Cunninghams"? I think more likely than not it will be more of a complimentary role player rather than a star PG. You have to be realistic here. Rondo is the exception rather than the rule.
