Minny trades draft rights to Rubio and sends PF Darius Songaila to the Portland Trailblazers for SF Travis Outlaw and PG Jerryd Bayless and Portland's 2010 #1 draft pick (lottery protected). Portland also signed SF Shawn Marion, who's rights were renounced by the Toronto Raptors on July 8, 2009. Blake/Rubio/Mills Roy/Rudy Marion/Batum/Webster LMA/Songaila/Pendergraph Oden/Pryzbilla Claver stays in Europe; Cunningham to the D-league
Redemption? splain to me how this would be viewed as anything but Minny making a desperation move to unload Rubio.
That is precisely what it would be. What good is having Rubio if he won't play in your town? Why did Minny draft he and Flynn anyway? With Rubio at the 5th pick.... to trade his rights. No other "realistic" reason behind Minny's selections at 5 & 6. However, they have Portland right where they want us: give up talent, pick or picks and unload a contract. Not bad for rights to Rubio (who will never wear a Timberwolves uniform - never).
You might have a shot with Blake, Outlaw, Rudy for Cardinal and Rubio. Not sure how they feel about Songalia or for that matter how I feel. Since I don't know who he is I assume that if I did know it would probably not be a good feeling. Minnie might bite on that.
Do you ever post? Got any good ideas to throw out there? I'm open! At the moment, the Blazers are fnslapped. One bad idea may lead to a good one! LOL Here to have fun. Not taking this too seriously. Every time I propose a whacko trade, I attempt to clear it through realgm's trade checker first. A bit difficult to do with free-agency upon us....but I do try.
Thanks for a thoughtful reply! I first looked at Cardinal (he's a dud) so I chose Songaila (near-dud) selfeshly. But Cardinal + Sessions for Outlaw/Blake or Bayless/Picks would be a fine trade for both parties.
