This game was a lot closer than the score indicated. I hate to make excuses, but did anyone see on the Iggels first drive how they stalled at the 35, but were given a gift first down on a horrible holding call? The guy fell down on his own, my guy didn't touch him after five yards. Went on to score a TD and bring momentum right back to the Iggles after the Vikes put up the first points. Lets also look at the T.O non-reception, reception touchdown. Maybe they score anyway, who knows, but that was not a valid touchdown, even though the score says it is. Bottom line, the Iggles won, but I hope the Iggles fans aren't thinking this was a blowout. Vikes made planty of mistakes, and props to the Iggles overall, but I honestly feel that the Vikes outplayed them. I bet if you compared stats without showing scores that 9 out of 10 would say the Vikes won the game. Just my opinion. My point is that if two plays were called correctly, it's a whole new game. I'll accept the loss, I don't want to look like a whiner, just hope the Iggle fans don't get to confident. They were given a few gift calls, and due to a couple Vikes injury's on the O-line, Pepper had no time (still put up tons of yards though). Now it's looking like those guys are out for the year (Rosenthal, Kleinsasser), so it could be a painful rest of the season for the purple.
I think if the play had been booth reviewed, Culpepper would have been given a TD on that goal line carry and not charged with the fumble. That and T.O.'s non-TD catch were the difference makers in the game. Vikes will be fine. They're always tough... (It pains me to say that.)
I lived in Philly for 4 years and all the natives sounded like they were saying "Iggles" I do think it was a fumble too. Couldn't have been much closer though
It was a fumble (Culpepper has small hands), but there were other really bad calls. The defensive holding on the Eagles first drive was a pretty aweful call that translated to 6. I'm not so sure of the holding call that called back the Culpepper rushing TD. Birk had both arms extended which showed he was grabbing on to something. That was also the block that sprang Pepp. The Owens TD was a horrible call by the officials. I want to blame Tice for not reviewing the play (and I have blamed him), but the fact is that he had no good view of the play (I will be ranting about this later). After thinking about this game for a while...I'm sort of glad we had an ugly loss early on in the season. We now know where our problems are in week 2 as opposed to week 8 like last year.
